About This Blog: An Introduction To English Prime

English Prime (or E-Prime) discourages any use of the "to be" verb from the English language.

The exclusion list:

  1. be; being; been;

  2. am; is; isn't; are; aren't;

  3. was; wasn't; were; weren't;

  4. i'm; you're; we're; they're;

  5. he's; she's; it's;

  6. ain't; hain't;

Language key (used throughout this blog):

  • SE = Standard English
  • EP = English Prime
